“Backpack takes” is the actual amount we get to keep. This amount helps us run our platform and offer services like customer support, warranty, insurance for damaged or missing items etc.
For certain items where the traveler fee is too high, Backpack fee can be as low as $0. We’re literally bringing these items for free!
As our pricing model stands, the Backpack fee we take is up to 20% of the item price. Why? Because this amount goes entirely into our efforts to establish a premium service with round the clock support and a 30-day return policy. We also provide insurance for missing/damaged items if the traveler somehow damages or loses the item.
We basically need to take the Backpack fee so we can run our operation without any hiccups while ensuring that our customers have access to a smooth, hassle-free shopping experience.
